About the Role – Compliance Testing Analyst
This position is responsible for auditing (Second Line of Defense Testing) Business Units across multiple markets to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. You will work closely with Market Compliance Officers to provide assurance on risk management and compliance practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct timely fieldwork & testing related to core compliance areas, including AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and Privacy.
- Provide regular progress updates and communicate potential findings to the Manager – Compliance Testing Team and Market Compliance Officers.
- Identify and communicate compliance findings with senior stakeholders (Directors, VPs) and gain their concurrence.
- Work with business teams to develop remediation plans for addressing identified compliance issues.
- Collaborate with Market Compliance Officers to detect emerging regulatory risks and assess their impact on compliance monitoring plans.
- Exhibit leadership qualities aligned with the American Express Leadership Model – set the agenda, bring others along, and do it the right way.
What We’re Looking For
✅ 5+ years of relevant experience in internal audit, compliance, or consultancy (preferably within the Big Four or banking/financial sector).
✅ Strong internal control and testing skills – ability to design, execute, and validate compliance audits.
✅ Experience in regulatory compliance, AML, or legal frameworks.
✅ Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, ACAMS, MBA, or audit certifications preferred.
✅ Proven analytical and problem-solving skills – ability to break down complex issues into actionable insights.
✅ Strong stakeholder management skills – ability to communicate findings with senior leaders and drive resolution plans.
✅ Self-motivated, adaptable, and detail-oriented professional with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
✅ Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
✅ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
✅ Relevant certifications (CRCM, CIA, CAMS, CPA) are a plus but not required.
