Role Overview
As an Analyst in Audit & Regulatory Engagement, you will be part of the Global Risk & Compliance (GRC) team. This team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that American Express operates safely, soundly, and in full compliance with regulatory expectations. In this role, you will support internal and external exam management, work with ORM teams to resolve audit and regulatory findings, and drive improvements in exam processes to ensure compliance with enterprise policies.
Key Responsibilities

Exam Management Support:
Oversee the day-to-day management of internal and external exams, collaborating with enterprise functions to track and resolve requests and escalate risks and issues in a timely manner. -
Partnering with ORM Teams:
Advise ORM teams on responses to exam and audit inquiries, ensuring timely and effective solutions to address identified risks and findings. -
Process and System Maintenance:
Develop and maintain systems and processes to ensure consistent, efficient exam responses across business units. Review and enforce compliance with enterprise policies. -
Risk Reporting and Presentations:
Prepare and present materials to ORM leadership and the Operational Risk Management Committee, detailing audit and regulatory initiatives. -
Risk Identification & Analysis:
Help identify critical operational risks, ensuring they are evaluated effectively and escalated when necessary. Provide guidance on improving risk management strategies.
Minimum Qualifications

Experience:
2+ years in a financial risk management function (e.g., audit, compliance, operations, credit, etc.) -
Knowledge:
Understanding of the operational risk management lifecycle, including key activities and best practices. -
Skills:
-
Strong project management skills and experience developing end-to-end risk management processes.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, analyze data, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.

SQL and Python proficiency, with experience using tools like Archer and Tableau for database queries is preferred.

Experience supporting risk exam management processes is preferred.

Communication:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
