Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Contribute to shaping the strategic direction of Retail Risk Operations.

  • Collaborate with in-country stakeholders to align initiatives with strategic goals.

Business

  • Optimize operational efficiency while maintaining the effectiveness of credit file processing.

  • Ensure cost budgets in Credit Initiation are based on robust capacity planning and delivered within discipline.

Processes

  • Ensure credit files comply with defined process standards.

  • Lead initiatives for standardization, automation, and process re-engineering.

  • Enhance credit assessment infrastructure to improve efficiency.

  • Implement Operational Risk Framework and monitor metrics to detect control weaknesses.

  • Identify and track KPIs for strategic and operational insights.

People & Talent

  • Lead by example and instill a culture aligned with Standard Chartered’s values.

  • Ensure continuous development and supervision of team members.

  • Attract, retain, and manage succession planning for critical roles.

Risk Management

  • Benchmark and implement industry best practices.

  • Analyze application quality and advise stakeholders on optimizing risk/reward balance.

  • Ensure all policies align with group and regulatory standards.

  • Maintain updated policy documentation.

Governance

  • Uphold compliance with regulatory and internal policies.

  • Promote ethical behavior and embed Group values in all operations.

  • Ensure audit and regulatory issues are closed satisfactorily.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and codes of conduct.

  • Collaborate to escalate and resolve risk and compliance issues effectively.

Internal Stakeholders

  • Country Retail Risk Head

  • RRO & Policy Teams

  • Retail Business/Product Heads

  • In-country Governance Forums

  • Collections, Fraud, IT, Operations, Legal & HR Teams

External Stakeholders

  • Auditors & Regulators

  • Credit Bureaus and Industry Associations (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, etc.)

  • External Vendors and Consultants


Additional Responsibilities

  • Review credit files for compliance and documentation.

  • Conduct Tele/Physical PDs as per policy.

  • Manage reworks and coordination with business teams.

  • Validate legal and valuation reports and determine final eligibility.

  • Analyze financials, banking, and sales turnover metrics.

  • Conduct fraud and external checks.

  • Prepare detailed Credit Approval Memos.

  • Manage and monitor vendor performance, TATs, billing, and compliance with TPSA clauses.


Skills and Experience Required

  • Financial Analysis and interpretation of statements

  • Legal and Technical understanding of credit processes

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word

  • Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills


Qualifications

  • Education: MBA / CA with minimum 2 years of experience

  • Languages: Proficiency in English and Hindi
