Role Overview – Analyst, FX Exposure Identification CoE
The FX Exposure Identification CoE is a part of the Middle Office Controllership team within the Global Treasury Controllership Organization. This team is responsible for identifying and analyzing foreign currency exposure from transactions and equity translation exposure in AXP’s foreign subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify underlying foreign currency exposure from ledger transactions to assist Global Treasury Operations (GTO) in hedging FX risks.
- Prepare month-end FX exposure adequacy reports for multiple markets to ensure appropriate FX hedging across AXP.
- Oversee the accounting and reporting of FX trades to mitigate AXP's foreign exchange risks from cross-currency transactions and subsidiaries.
- Provide advisory support for FX accounting-related company-wide initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with SOX, Bank Holding Company regulations, and internal AXP guidelines by maintaining robust accounting controls.
- Participate and lead projects related to Treasury/Business Partner initiatives by providing appropriate FX advisory.
- Identify automation and simplification opportunities to enhance efficiency.
- Implement controls to minimize FX impact on P&L through analytical assessment of risk drivers.
Technical Skills & Competencies
Accounting & Finance Knowledge
???? Strong accounting expertise, particularly in:
- ASC 830 (FAS 52) – Currency Remeasurement & Translation
- ASC 815 (FAS 133) – FX Hedge Accounting, Analysis, and Reporting
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
???? Ability to manage multiple priorities with keen attention to detail.
???? Critical thinker who can challenge the status quo and engage effectively with management, auditors, and regulators.
???? Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect business drivers to FX exposure.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
???? Ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and work cross-functionally without direct authority.
???? Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective engagement with leadership and regulators.
Technical Proficiency
???? Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
???? Knowledge of Oracle Accounting and Reporting Tools is an added advantage.
