About the Role
The Technology organization at American Express plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s strategic priorities, ensuring global delivery and operations of technology capabilities and platforms. The Technology Control Management Issues, Events & Remediation team focuses on ensuring timely identification, response, and resolution of risk events and issues to minimize impact and prevent recurrence.
We are looking for a Senior Information Security Analyst to ensure effective control management is embedded into our daily operations. This role involves collaborating with multiple partners across business units and geographies while leading initiatives to identify, investigate, and resolve operational risk issues.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Issue Identification & Root Cause Analysis:

Investigate and conduct root cause analysis to address and resolve operational risk issues.
-
Identify and analyze repeated issue types and propose remediation plans.
✅ Remediation & Documentation:
-
Scope, prioritize, and support remediation efforts, collaborating with business units (BUs) and technology teams.
-
Oversee the end-to-end remediation process, ensuring timely resolution and tracking progress.
-
Perform quality assurance on documentation related to operational issues, events, and corrective actions.
✅ Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
-
Engage with key stakeholders including business unit leaders, compliance officers, and regulatory bodies to ensure effective issue management.

Prepare and deliver detailed reports on issue status, trends, and outcomes for senior management.
✅ Operational Governance & Risk Mitigation:
-
Analyze trends in operational risks to identify potential systemic weaknesses.
-
Ensure that lessons learned from risk events are integrated into future risk management practices.
-
Support and enforce process governance aligned with policies and regulatory frameworks.
✅ Leadership & Collaboration:
-
Build and maintain cordial relationships with stakeholders across Technology, Compliance, ORM (Operational Risk Management), and other teams.

Act as a thought leader by sharing insights, better practices, and themes across the organization.
Required Qualifications
-
Experience: Minimum 5+ years in operational risk management, with a focus on the operational risk lifecycle.
-
Skills:
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
-
Expertise in process governance and operational risk frameworks.
-
Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
-
Ability to manage multiple teams across geographies and deliver results.
-
Experience in the financial services industry.
-

Leadership: Proven ability to deliver updates and insights to senior leadership with executive presence.
Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering & Technology, Finance, Business, or Risk Management (Advanced degrees like MBA or relevant certifications are a plus).

Technical Expertise: Experience in at least one of the following:

Scoping and prioritizing operational issues.

Investigating and performing root cause analysis.

Overseeing the remediation and documentation of operational risks.
-
Managing the end-to-end issue resolution process with accountability.

Prior experience in a technical role.
