Job Summary:
We are seeking an Application Support Specialist with strong analytical skills, SQL expertise, and knowledge of steel manufacturing. This role is critical in ensuring application stability, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with teams to enhance systems and raise incidents to higher support levels when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- 24/7 Application Support: Provide continuous support for steel manufacturing applications, ensuring smooth operations and quick issue resolution to minimize downtime.
- SQL Querying & Data Analysis: Develop and execute SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis to provide insights for production and performance improvement.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Analyze and troubleshoot complex issues related to applications and databases, applying critical thinking to identify root causes and develop solutions.
- Collaborative Support: Work closely with clients across departments to understand their needs, provide solutions, and ensure seamless business-critical application operation.
- Performance Monitoring: Proactively monitor the performance and health of applications and databases, taking measures to prevent downtime.
- Customization & Configuration: Assist in the configuration, customization, and development of applications to meet the evolving needs of steel manufacturing processes.
- System Enhancements: Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying areas of improvement, streamlining systems, and suggesting process changes.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear documentation of issues, troubleshooting steps, solutions, and system configurations. Generate reports based on SQL queries for performance metrics, troubleshooting, and strategic decision-making.
- Client Training & Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and support for clients on software applications, guiding staff on best practices and issue resolution.
- Root Cause Analysis: Lead root cause analysis for recurring issues, leveraging analytical skills to understand broader impacts and suggest long-term fixes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in application support, particularly SQL-based applications. Experience in a steel manufacturing environment is a plus.
- SQL Skills: Strong SQL knowledge, including the ability to write complex queries for data extraction and reporting.
- Analytical & Logical Thinking: Proven ability to apply logical reasoning and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
- Manufacturing Process Knowledge: Understanding of steel manufacturing processes or the ability to quickly learn them.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring quality results.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, especially in the steel industry.
- ITIL certification or experience with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management) is a plus.
