Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Software Engineer to develop and operate backend components for our real-time communication platform. You will work on key features such as VoIP softphone, conferencing, screen sharing, voicemail, call recording, and RESTful API services. As a part of a DevOps team, you'll collaborate with individuals of various experience levels, scaling, optimizing, and building new features to enhance the customer experience.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact and contribute to the expansion of our Unified Communications business.


Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Engineering Project Manager: Provide consultative direction, developing long-term objectives, and determining resources, technology, and course of action to achieve results.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product managers, third-party vendors, and marketing teams to deliver quality products on time, meeting defined requirements.

  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain working relationships within product development teams, vendors, and contractors.

  • Product Lifecycle: Contribute to product and technical requirements, design documents, transaction models, capacity and bandwidth models, and operational procedures.

  • Business Insights: Apply knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products and services.

  • Customer Needs: Anticipate customer needs, assess requirements, and identify solutions.

  • Project Management: Ensure projects are efficiently transitioned into QA and operations, meeting timelines and requirements.

  • Failure Management: Review system failures and provide feedback for future prevention.

  • Leadership: Provide technical guidance for cross-platform applications, ensuring timely restoration of system failures.

  • Independent Judgment: Exercise independent judgment in significant matters.


Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Programming Languages: Expertise in C/C++, with intermediate experience in GoLang.

  • Open Source Software: Hands-on experience with open-source technologies.

  • REST APIs: Expertise in consuming and producing REST APIs.

  • VoIP Technologies: Knowledge of SIP protocol, VoIP technologies, and telephony software such as pjSIP, Freeswitch, Jitsi, and Broadsoft.

  • Database Knowledge: Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Experience in cloud platforms like AWS, OpenStack, and VMware.

  • SDLC: Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Code Review: Experience in peer code reviews and mentoring junior developers.

  • Scrum: Scrum experience is a plus.


Core Responsibilities

  • Consultation: Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements and analyze integration needs.

  • Software Development: Design, develop, and support new software applications. Assist in the rollout of software updates.

  • Training: Provide guidance to junior Software Development Engineers on software applications.

  • Documentation: Oversee the research, writing, and editing of technical requirements, evaluation plans, test results, and technical manuals.

  • Innovation: Stay current with technological developments and evaluate competitive applications and products.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship to junior engineers and lead design processes.

  • Performance Metrics: Track performance metrics, ensuring on-time, on-budget software delivery.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure applications meet technical specifications.

  • Expertise: Display expertise in engineering methodologies and process redesign.
