About This Role

We are looking for a Senior UNIX Platform Engineer to lead Unix platform operations across Cloud, Kubernetes, and On-Prem environments. This role requires hands-on expertise in Linux, server technologies, automation, and cloud platforms.

The ideal candidate will work closely with global system engineers to ensure seamless operations, system reliability, and platform scalability. This role primarily involves weekday work, but flexibility to work weekends when required is essential.

Team Overview

You will be part of the global Aladdin Engineering SysOps UNIX team, a team of over 50 professionals across six regions. This team supports a highly available UNIX environment hosted on-premises and in the cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead UNIX system operations across cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

• Engineer, administer, and support services and products deployed to Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Develop automation tools/scripts to enhance operational efficiency.

• Monitor and report on system analytics using cloud-native tools.

• Provide OS support for 12,000+ RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) hosts globally.

• Review dashboards & reports for vulnerability management and compliance.

• Perform server builds, configuration, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.

• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues while providing operations support.

• Participate in disaster recovery (DR) exercises and maintain system availability.

• Work on UNIX-related projects, process alerts, and maintain system security.

• Document processes and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Required Experience & Skills

Technical Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of RHEL (RedHat Enterprise Linux).

• Cloud expertise: Preferably Azure (AWS or Google Cloud also valuable).

• Kubernetes/Containers experience is required.

• Proficiency in scripting & coding: Python, Go, Perl, or Java.

• DevOps & CI/CD expertise: Strong understanding of modern DevOps/SRE principles.

• Configuration Management: Expertise in Puppet, Build/Kickstart/Deploy processes.

• Volume Management & Clustering: LVM, VxFS, VCS, VVR.

• Server hardware knowledge: HPE, Dell.

• Networking & Security: TCP/IP, NFS, DNS, LDAP, FTP, NTP, Samba, Autofs.

• System monitoring & performance analysis.

• Conceptual understanding of storage & networking components.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• 8+ years of experience in UNIX system operations & cloud environments.

• Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.

• Ability to work flexibly on weekends as needed.
