Job Title: Engineering & Facilities Manager
Job Summary
The Engineering & Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the safety, security, and optimal performance of the property. This role includes budget management, capital expenditure projects, preventive maintenance, energy conservation, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the manager will lead emergency response efforts for facility-related issues while enhancing guest and employee satisfaction through effective communication and training.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience:
Option 1:
- High school diploma or GED
- 4 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area
- Technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing
Option 2:
- 2-year degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related field
- 2 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area
- Technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing
Core Work Activities
Managing Engineering Operations & Budgets:
- Oversee the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with facility and safety standards.
- Implement energy conservation measures for cost-effective operations.
- Develop and manage service contracts to support facility needs.
- Assign and monitor preventive maintenance and repair tasks.
- Supervise maintenance of guest rooms, public spaces, restaurants, and property vehicles.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance and asset protection strategies.
- Supervise renovation and construction projects, including contractor management.
- Build relationships with regulatory agencies and external partners.
- Conduct inspections to ensure high facility standards.
- Recommend and manage repairs, renovations, and equipment replacements.
- Maintain an inventory of parts and equipment.
Maintaining Property Standards:
- Ensure all building and equipment licenses and certifications are up to date.
- Maintain property life safety systems, including fire-fighting equipment, sprinkler systems, and alarms.
Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service:
- Lead by example in delivering excellent guest hospitality.
- Monitor guest feedback and satisfaction data to identify improvement areas.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement corrective actions.
- Continuously strive for service excellence.
Human Resources & Training:
- Manage staffing levels to align with service, operational, and financial goals.
- Train employees on safety procedures and fire protection.
- Provide feedback based on service observations.
- Assist in operational tasks as needed.
