What is Aladdin & Aladdin Engineering?
You will be working on BlackRock's investment operating system – Aladdin, which combines risk analytics, portfolio management, trading, and operations tools into a single platform. Used internally and by global financial institutions, Aladdin powers informed decision-making and investment strategies worldwide.
As part of the Aladdin Engineering team, you will help build and enhance a system that processes millions of transactions and manages trillions in assets across financial markets daily.
Key Responsibilities

Develop high-performance, scalable, and fault-tolerant software systems.
-
Design & implement frontend/backend features ensuring smooth integration and user experience.
-
Lead the development & deployment of Aladdin’s next-generation portfolio management systems.
-
Collaborate with global teams to develop solutions for investment firms.
-
Define product roadmaps by working with product management and business users.
-
Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance system performance.
-
Drive software engineering best practices including code reviews, unit testing, and DevOps.
-
Lead & mentor junior engineers while fostering a culture of innovation and inclusion.
-
Work in an Agile environment with flexible deadlines & iterative development.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills:
-
Strong Java expertise with object-oriented programming (OOP) and design patterns.
-
Hands-on experience with:
-
Java, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, JUnit
-
TypeScript, JavaScript, Angular (2.0+), Microservices
-
Apache Ignite, Microsoft Frontend (MFE) Architecture
-
Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) Pattern
-
-
Relational & NoSQL database experience (e.g., Apache Cassandra).
-
Microservices & API development (REST, Kafka, gRPC).
-
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
-
DevOps knowledge (Azure DevOps, CI/CD).
Soft Skills & Leadership Qualities:
-
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
-
Ability to lead development teams and take ownership of critical applications.
-
Experience in finance or investment processes is a plus.

Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams.
Nice to Have (Opportunities to Learn)

Experience with AI-related projects/products.

Open-source contributions or certifications in software engineering.

Exposure to high-scale distributed technologies like Kafka, MongoDB, Redis, and Ignite.

Experience in agile methodologies & open-source development projects.
