Position Overview

The Project Engineer (PE) will be responsible for providing engineering services to both large and small projects, offering support to the Project Manager (PM) and Engineering Manager (EM). The PE will supervise a team of engineers and designers, provide leadership, and resolve all technical issues related to the discipline, particularly in air conditioning and ventilation systems.


Key Responsibilities

A) Air Conditioning System:

  • Calculations:
    • Perform heat load calculations using Carrier E 20, Hourly load profile, and HEVACOMP.
    • Conduct static pressure and pump head calculations.
  • System Selection and Development:
    • Select and develop air conditioning systems, including DX Type, VRF Type, and Chillers.
    • Develop BOQ, cost estimation, HVAC Input/Output data, and perform data analysis.
  • Design & Documentation:
    • Develop air flow diagrams, schematic drawings, and layout drawings (plan, section).
    • Create plant room layout drawings (PAC, Chilled water plant), P&ID, piping layout, and clash detection with other services and structural members.
  • Vendor Coordination:
    • Prepare enquiry documents (project scope, technical specifications, datasheets).
    • Review and analyze vendor offers, conduct technical tabulation, and manage vendor communications.
    • Review civil/structural drawings related to HVAC and coordinate approvals with vendors.

B) Ventilation System:

  • Air Quantity and System Design:
    • Perform air quantity calculations for Dry Ventilation and Air Washer systems.
    • Select fans and airwashers, considering size, load list, civil load data, utility requirements, and cost estimates.
  • Team Management:
    • Review and guide a team of 6 engineers working across multiple projects.

C) Project Management:

  • Project Coordination:
    • Understand and manage MS Project schedules, critical paths, and preparation of drawing/document lists related to HVAC systems.
    • Participate in design review/project review meetings for multiple projects to meet project requirements.
  • Cost and Time Control:
    • Support in controlling costs and timelines for HVAC-related activities.
  • Design & Documentation:
    • Develop duct layout drawings, air flow diagrams, schematic diagrams, BOQ, and clash detection with other services.
    • Review civil/structural drawings for HVAC-related works before release for construction.

Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • 10+ years of experience in relevant design discipline.
    • Experience in engineering and package coordination.
  • Qualification:

    • Postgraduate or graduate in an engineering discipline.
    • Professional engineer registration with the governing authority (preferred).
