Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Server clustering, mirroring, log shipping, and AlwaysOn, along with performance tuning and troubleshooting. Experience with AWS and other database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB) is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirements Elicitation & Analysis
- Understand project vision and requirements.
- Contribute to supplemental requirements and low-level technical specifications for platforms and service solutions.
2. Project Planning & Tracking
- Estimate tasks and resources needed for designing, building, and testing code.
- Provide inputs for project scheduling.
- Assist in project planning, risk evaluation, and priority management.
- Ensure that assigned modules meet project timelines and quality standards.
- Communicate updates and scope changes to the team.
- Track and report progress for assigned modules.
3. Design & Development
- Create Low-Level Design (LLD) with alternate solutions.
- Ensure LLD aligns with business requirements and submit it for review.
- Develop high-priority, complex systems following functional specifications and coding standards.
- Use code management tools to maintain versioning integrity.
- Ensure new code does not impact internal/external systems.
- Conduct peer code reviews and provide improvement recommendations.
4. Testing & Debugging
- Participate in test design walkthroughs to ensure effective coverage.
- Perform impact analysis for assigned issues.
- Assist in debugging and problem-solving for software engineers and testing teams.
- Escalate urgent issues when necessary.
5. Documentation & Process Management
- Review technical documentation for accuracy and usability.
- Maintain unit test results and review documentation.
- Ensure compliance with SDLC processes and adhere to best practices, policies, and methodologies.
- Manage corporate funds, materials, and resources responsibly.
Qualifications & Skills
1. Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience as an SQL Server DBA.
- Expertise in SQL Server Clustering, Mirroring, Log Shipping, and AlwaysOn.
- Experience with SQL coding and performance tuning.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server versions (2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019, 2022).
- Experience working in complex database environments.
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL.
- Understanding of change control and validated systems.
2. Preferred Skills
- Experience with AWS.
- Knowledge of Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB.
- Experience with Foglight monitoring tools.
- Ability to automate DBA tasks using scripts (e.g., PL/SQL, cron jobs, shell scripting).
3. Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
- Ability to triage and resolve issues across multiple tiers (application, network, database, server, storage).
- Excellent customer service orientation.
Location
- This position can be based in Chennai or Gurgaon.
