Job Summary
The Piping Engineer will report directly to the Team Manager and play a key role in technical engineering, design execution, and project management. This role requires expertise in engineering principles and processes with a strong focus on safety, compliance, reliability, and efficiency. The engineer will be responsible for developing plant layouts, piping designs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
✅ Develop and implement engineering practices, workflows, and procedures.
✅ Participate in project reviews, monitor workflow, and recommend improvements.
✅ Solve complex engineering problems and provide solutions.
✅ Train and mentor designers, engineers, and senior engineers in the discipline.
✅ Ensure compliance with safety standards, discipline manuals, and job manuals.
✅ Manage technical procurement activities, including vendor document reviews.
✅ Conduct inspections and provide site assistance for technical queries.
✅ Perform man-hour calculations using discipline-specific tools.
Project Execution
✅ Develop and review plant layouts and piping designs ensuring quality and compliance.
✅ Implement project-specific norms and standards as per contract and job manual.
✅ Conduct SmartPlant SP3D modeling of:
- Equipment, piping, steel structures, pipe racks, buildings, shelters, control rooms, and more.
- Process, utility, and stress-critical piping lines.
✅ Prepare and review: - Equipment layout, plot plan, piping general arrangement drawings (GAD).
- Standard and special piping support drawings (SP3D/AutoCAD).
- SmartPlant SP3D design models and ensure a clash-free model.
- Underground piping concepts and battery limit drawings.
✅ Generate: - Civil work and steel structure guide drawings.
- Nozzle orientation and platform & ladder drawings.
- Isometric drawings (self-checking and AFC revisions).
✅ Ensure timely and quality inter-discipline document reviews.
✅ Provide comments on vendor drawings for general equipment layouts, civil works, and structures.
Technical & Domain Expertise
✅ Familiar with national and international piping codes and standards.
✅ Proficient in SmartPlant SP3D, SPR, Naviswork, and Microstation.
✅ Ability to identify risks and opportunities in execution and suggest mitigation measures.
✅ Collaborate with the design team to ensure seamless execution of ideas.
✅ Maintain effective communication with cross-functional teams and coordinate interdisciplinary workflows.
✅ Identify cost optimization opportunities during project execution.
Required Qualifications
???? Education:
- MTech / ME / BTech / BE in Mechanical Engineering.
???? Work Experience:
- 2 – 17 years of experience in EPC or detailed design engineering in industries like Oil & Gas, Energy, Refining, and Petrochemicals.
- Experience in modularization is an added advantage.
???? Language:
- English – Fluent.
