About the Position

The Process Control Engineer is part of the Process Engineering & Automation team in the Chevron ENGINE Center and provides technical consultation and research support for facility alarm management across Chevron.

This role is responsible for applying standard solutions and techniques for alarm management and alarm rationalization, ensuring compliance with Chevron Engineering Standards (CES) and industry best practices.

The Process Control Engineer will work closely with Alarm Management Subject Matter Experts from the Chevron Technical Center (CTC) to support operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

Apply Standards & Compliance

  • Implement Chevron Engineering Standards (CES) and industry standards related to Alarm Management.
  • Develop and maintain Alarm Philosophy documentation for projects and Business Units.

Alarm Management & Optimization

  • Compile and analyze data for Alarm Objective Analysis (AOA).
  • Review and provide technical feedback on alarm management engineering design documents.
  • Configure and program Process Control Systems (PCS) for alarm management.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Utilize alarm lifecycle management software to update and evaluate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Generate alarm metrics and reports, supporting troubleshooting and resolution of alarm management issues.
  • Track and mitigate nuisance alarms, ensuring operational reliability.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work with Chevron Technical Center counterparts for mentorship and skill development.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Required Qualifications

???? Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B. Tech) in Chemical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized AICTE university.

???? Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with Chevron’s global workforce.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5+ years as an Alarm Management Engineer or Process Control Engineer in the petrochemical, oil & gas industry, EPC (Engineering & Design Consulting), or Control Systems service providers (e.g., Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson).
  • Hands-on experience with alarm lifecycle management activities, including:
    • Developing alarm philosophy and conducting alarm rationalization.
    • Monitoring alarm KPIs and generating alarm reports.
    • Supporting alarm optimization and implementation of advanced alarm suppression techniques.

Technical Expertise:

  • Familiarity with alarm lifecycle management applications such as:
    • Hexagon PSI (preferred), Honeywell Dynamo, Yokogawa CAMS.
  • Experience in analyzing, extracting data, and configuring at least one of the following Chevron control systems:
    • Yokogawa Centum VP
    • Honeywell Experion
    • Emerson DeltaV
  • Knowledge of Process Control or Control Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with common PLC or packaged control systems applications (e.g., Rockwell, Wonderware).
  • Understanding of industry trends and technology advancements.

  • Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, aligning work hours to meet business needs.
  • Standard shifts:
    • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • 1:30 PM – 10:30 PM
