Position Overview

This role focuses on collaborating with cross-functional teams to prepare scientific publications, such as clinical and health-outcome abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and presentations. Scientific data and information are core assets for Lilly, and the role is critical in ensuring accurate, balanced, and timely dissemination to various stakeholders, including regulators, scientific communities, healthcare professionals, and patients.


Primary Responsibilities

1. Content Strategy: Document Preparation, Development, and Finalization

  • Collect and evaluate data from multiple sources to create a cohesive content strategy for writing projects.
  • Plan, write, edit, and finalize scientific data for peer-reviewed journals and forums.
  • Conduct document initiation meetings to ensure alignment among authoring teams.
  • Present data in a clear, accurate, and concise manner.
  • Coordinate expert reviews, adjust content based on feedback, and prepare the final document.
  • Advocate for appropriate authorship criteria and develop presentations with internal and external speakers.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and alliance partners as needed.

2. Project and Stakeholder Management

  • Lead the writing process with effective project management skills to ensure timely, high-quality publication deliverables.
  • Communicate credible timelines and mitigate risks to document delivery.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure timely document development, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of project status.

3. Knowledge and Skills Development

  • Enhance knowledge of therapeutic areas, disease states, and compounds for assigned projects.
  • Stay current with scientific communication skills, technology advancements, and digital tools.
  • Participate in publication planning, integrated planning processes, and awareness updates.
  • Keep up-to-date with publication guidelines and industry best practices.

4. Knowledge Sharing

  • Provide coaching to colleagues by sharing technical expertise and offering guidance.
  • Contribute to process improvements and share best practices across teams.
  • Offer expertise on document management systems and databases.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements:
    • Master’s degree in a scientific field.
  • Experience:
    • Experience in writing scientific publications.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Evaluation Requirement:
    • Successful completion of a writing exercise as part of the candidate evaluation process.

Additional Preferences

  • Advanced Degree (Preferred):

    • PhD, MD, PharmD, MA, MBBS in science, health-related fields, or other relevant disciplines such as economics, epidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, statistics, public health, etc.
  • Experience:

    • Health outcomes, health economics, disease management, and clinical development expertise.
    • Previous experience in clinical trial processes or health-outcomes research.
    • Strong knowledge in clinical pharmacology, therapeutic areas (neuroscience, oncology, cardiovascular, immunology, or endocrinology), or medical science.
  • Skills:

    • Demonstrated project management and time management skills.
    • High-level computer skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, presentation tools).
    • Expertise in reviewing, writing, and publishing scientific materials.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with various audiences.
