About The Job:
We are trusted by global freight forwarding companies, manufacturers, and cargo airlines to deliver fast, reliable, and secure forecasts that drive greater efficiency and unlock the true value of their logistics data. As we continue to scale and develop new products to meet customer needs, we’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you will report directly to the Head of Engineering and CTO, collaborating closely with the Product team to develop new products, scale existing solutions, and manage system architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design & Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems. Troubleshoot production issues across multiple levels of the stack.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Business, Product, and Data Science teams to identify and address customer pain points at scale.
- Innovation: Propose and implement ideas to enhance the tech stack and improve system functionality.
- Hands-On Development: Write code that drives product development and helps scale the company's offerings, ensuring quality and adherence to best practices.
What We're Looking For:
- Tech Stack Expertise:
- Proficiency in Python-based backend development and web frameworks like Flask.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Comfortable with designing RESTful APIs and adhering to best practices.
- Knowledge of Docker, Git, Elasticsearch, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
- System Architecture Knowledge:
- Understanding how different system components fit together and a strong background in building scalable systems.
- Comfortable working with large amounts of data from diverse sources and paying attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly generate ideas and suggest improvements for the tech stack and feature enhancements.
- Collaboration Skills:
- Experience working in a diverse, dynamic, and multicultural team.
- Willingness to contribute to engineering excellence within the team and participate in architectural discussions.
- Goal-oriented, hands-on engineer who follows agile principles and programming standards.
- Communication Skills:
- Strong communicator who can explain technical decisions clearly, whether in brainstorming sessions or written documentation.
- Ability to connect with different viewpoints and collaborate effectively, even when disagreements arise.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Early-Stage Product Development:
- Experience as an early engineering hire, scaling a technical product from scratch.
- Insights from growing a technical product in its early stages would be highly valuable.
