About Global Loyalty and Benefits (GLB)

The Global Loyalty and Benefits team manages Membership Rewards, Amex Offers, Insurance, and Card Benefits for over 112+ million cardholders across 58+ markets. Our engineering team uses modern technology stacks and agile methodologies to build reliable, scalable applications supporting up to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS).


Role Overview

We are seeking a versatile and passionate Engineering Lead to join the GLB Engineering department. You will lead a team of 8+ engineers, working on customer experience journeys on a modern, event-driven platform using technologies like Golang, Docker, Kafka, and Postgres.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead software development for complex, large-scale enterprise applications.

  • Own the technical design, prototyping, coding, and implementation of scalable services.

  • Partner with Product Managers and internal stakeholders to improve the platform.

  • Define and uphold engineering standards including code review, CI/CD, and retrospectives.

  • Mentor and guide engineers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Drive team-wide improvements in technical practices, architecture, and deployment strategies.

  • Support hiring efforts and build a high-performing team in collaboration with the Engineering Director.

  • Facilitate automation for scalable, demand-driven application deployment in testing and production environments.

  • Create and implement best practices in agile software delivery and technical leadership.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).

  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience (preferably with Golang).

  • 2+ years of leadership experience in a complex technical environment.

  • Proven success in designing and deploying enterprise-grade software.

  • Expertise in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and product-based development.

  • Experience with automation, testing, documentation, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, JIRA, Rally, GIT/SVN.

  • Strong adaptability to shifting product requirements and business priorities.

  • Experience with functional, performance, and automated testing.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Go (Golang) programming.

  • Exposure to modern software architecture and legacy migration strategies.

  • Deep involvement in the external tech community (e.g., open-source, forums, speaking engagements).

  • Led multiple Scrum teams in cross-functional environments.

  • Strong coaching and mentorship skills for team development.

  • Advocated and implemented engineering best practices across departments.
