Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Data) with 4+ years of experience in data engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, integrating data from multiple sources, and optimizing data architecture to support business intelligence, reporting, and analytics.
This is an individual contributor (IC) role, where you will work autonomously while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance our data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
???? Data Engineering & Infrastructure
✔ Develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate structured and unstructured data.
✔ Optimize data models using star and snowflake schema for performance and scalability.
✔ Work extensively with Amazon Redshift, ensuring best practices for data storage and management.
✔ Utilize AWS services (S3, Lambda, EC2, RDS, CloudWatch) to enhance data architecture.
✔ Implement business intelligence solutions to support reporting and analytics needs.
✔ Build large-scale data scraping processes for business intelligence purposes.
???? Collaboration & Ownership
✔ Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to solve business-critical problems.
✔ Take ownership of projects, from concept to execution, with minimal supervision.
✔ Set high-quality standards for development, ensuring clean and optimized data pipelines.
✔ Communicate effectively with global teams, maintaining at least 5 hours of overlap with Melbourne-based colleagues (AEST).
Required Skills & Experience
???? 4+ years of experience in data engineering with expertise in:
✅ Amazon Redshift – extensive experience with data storage, optimization, and maintenance.
✅ AWS Ecosystem – hands-on experience with S3, Lambda, EC2, RDS, CloudWatch.
✅ Python – proficient in data processing, scripting, and automation.
✅ dbt (Data Build Tool) – experience in solving real-world data problems using dbt.
✅ SQL – advanced querying, optimization, and working with large datasets.
✅ Data Modeling – strong understanding of star/snowflake schemas for efficient data warehousing.
✅ Business Intelligence Tools – experience with reporting, dashboards, and analytics.
Bonus Skills:
➕ Jinja, Airflow, MWAA – experience with data orchestration tools.
➕ Startup Experience – ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, agile environment.
