About the Engineering Team
The HashiCorp Engineering Team is responsible for building the Infrastructure Cloud, providing a unified approach to Infrastructure and Security Lifecycle Management, covering:
Infrastructure Lifecycle Management
???? Terraform – Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for provisioning and managing cloud resources
???? Packer – Standardized image workflows for cloud environments
???? Waypoint – Internal developer platform for seamless infrastructure access
???? Nomad – Application scheduling for containers, binaries, and VMs
Security Lifecycle Management
???? Vault – Identity-based security for authentication and secrets management
???? Boundary – Secure remote access with identity-based security controls
???? Consul – Service networking for seamless discovery and secure connections
We deliver these solutions through our enterprise-grade SaaS platform, HCP, as well as self-managed/on-premises options.
Now, we are looking for Senior Backend Engineers to help build and scale the Infrastructure Cloud!
Role Overview
We’re seeking Senior Backend Engineers with expertise in Golang to join our team. This role requires deep backend experience and a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and security.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
✅ Design, prototype, and implement high-impact features and tools
✅ Collaborate with Product Management, Product Design, and Engineering teams
✅ Lead large-scale projects from design to full implementation and troubleshooting
✅ Drive end-to-end development—architecture, implementation, issue resolution
✅ Optimize performance, scalability, and security in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
✅ Debug and resolve complex issues to enhance product quality and stability
✅ Review and assess code for best practices, optimization, and design patterns
✅ Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering best development practices
✅ Facilitate team collaboration via code pairing, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing
✅ Participate in on-call rotations to maintain reliable production environments
What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
✔ 4+ years of software engineering experience, with a backend focus
✔ Proficiency in modern programming languages (Golang & Ruby preferred)
✔ Strong experience in distributed systems and cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP)
✔ Deep understanding of scalability, resilience, and security best practices
✔ Ability to lead projects, direct work, and influence decisions
✔ Experience with cloud-native development & DevOps principles
✔ Familiarity with observability tools (metrics, logging, tracing)
✔ Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills
Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)
???? Experience with HashiCorp products (Terraform, Packer, Waypoint, Nomad, Vault, Boundary, Consul)
???? Prior experience in cloud platform engineering teams
???? Hands-on experience with container orchestration, microservices, and service mesh technologies
