The Big Data Team is at the core of Poshmark's growth, building a world-class data platform to extract value for our customers. Our mission is to democratize data, support business expansion, provide analytics tools, and fuel critical business initiatives.
As a Software Engineer II, Data Engineering, you will be responsible for managing Poshmark’s growth data—ensuring real-time access to high-quality data for all stakeholders. This role involves:
- Building & maintaining data pipelines (real-time & batch).
- Optimizing scalability & performance for large-scale data processing.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Data Science, Analytics, Engineering).
- Developing clean, efficient, and scalable code for diverse data sources (APIs, S3, Web Scraping).
- Working with cutting-edge technologies: Scala, Ruby, Apache Spark, Airflow, Redshift, Databricks, Docker.
- Managing data infrastructure for ETLs, Hive & Redshift tables, and BI tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, Develop & Maintain growth data pipelines integrating paid media sources like Facebook & Google.
- Build scalable, fault-tolerant data processing systems using AWS, Kafka, Spark & Big Data technologies.
- Handle large-scale batch & real-time data processing (100s of TBs daily, petabyte-scale data warehouse).
- Architect & develop critical data pipelines for analytics and business insights.
- Productionize ML models in collaboration with Data Science & Engineering teams.
- Maintain & optimize existing data platforms, transitioning to newer architectures.
- Continuously improve best practices in data engineering & development.
Skills & Experience Required
Must-Have
✔ Strong problem-solving skills in data structures & algorithms, with a focus on optimization & code quality.
✔ 1+ years of relevant software engineering experience using Scala, Java, Ruby, Python, C++, or similar languages.
✔ Expertise in Big Data Technologies: Spark, Hadoop, EMR, Kafka/Kinesis, Flink, Druid.
✔ Strong SQL skills and experience with data warehouse technologies like Redshift.
✔ Experience integrating data from External APIs, Web Scraping, Google Apps Script, or Databricks.
✔ Self-driven mindset with the ability to take ownership, make strategic decisions, and work with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Have
➕ Experience in Google Apps Script, API Integrations.
➕ Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
➕ Understanding of BI tools, data visualization, and analytics platforms.
