Job Overview:
Join United Airlines' Digital Technology team to be a part of their innovative Contact Centers group. This team works closely with the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps teams to monitor application availability, latency, and overall system health. As a DevOps Engineer, you will guide, mentor, and train support personnel on how to utilize tools and improve system reliability, availability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring & Reliability: Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of critical applications. Manage incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem processes to prevent future issues.
- Cloud & Kubernetes Expertise: Understand and apply best practices for AWS, EC2, Kubernetes, and container monitoring. Manage scope organization, updates, upgrades, and internal integrations.
- Monitoring & Tools: Experience with site monitoring and log-checking tools like Datadog and Dynatrace. Define and track SLOs (Service Level Objectives) and SLAs (Service Level Agreements) to ensure service reliability and performance.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Process Improvement: Continuously enhance processes and practices to improve system reliability and team efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, ensuring that expectations are met on time, within budget, and with high code quality.
- Innovation: Stay up to date with new technologies and implement current solutions that benefit the business.
- Communication: Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks to all levels of employees and management.
- Agile & CI/CD: Work with Agile teams to define technical requirements, build and integrate automated pipelines, and use continuous integration tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI.
- Systems & Debugging: Strong understanding of systems, networks, and debugging methods to resolve operational issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 4 to 6 years of hands-on industry experience in software development.
- 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Specialist.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) and configuration management tools.
- Experience with containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards (e.g., Terraform).
- Skills:
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.
- Successful completion of the interview process required.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Security Best Practices: Knowledge of security best practices in a DevOps environment.
- Monitoring Tools: Experience with logging and monitoring tools such as Datadog and Dynatrace.
- Problem Solving & Communication: Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Additional Tools: Experience with Harness tools is a plus.
