Role Overview: Senior Software Engineer – C++
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Software Engineer at Quark, you will focus primarily on C++ development and contribute to feature development for QuarkXPress and QuarkXPress for Business. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Feature Development & Implementation
- Develop features for QuarkXPress and QuarkXPress for Business.
- Work closely with the Scrum Master/Lead to understand project scope.
- Implement assignments with high quality and efficiency.
- Install, deploy, configure, and demonstrate features.
- Provide feature-level demos as per business requirements.
2. Software Development & Engineering
- Manage and develop software applications through coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Evaluate operational feasibility by analyzing requirements and proposing solutions.
- Develop clear documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, and code comments.
- Determine and design system specifications and standards.
- Conduct systems analysis and recommend policy and procedural improvements.
3. Agile & Cross-Team Collaboration
- Participate in Agile meetings to contribute to development strategies.
- Collaborate with multiple engineering teams using your software.
- Own critical processes that require high availability and scalability.
- Encourage team collaboration and creative problem-solving.
4. Mentorship & Leadership
- Provide guidance to junior engineers, offering advice, coaching, and learning opportunities.
- Assist in the preparation and documentation of project requirements and specifications.
What We’re Looking For
1. Education
- BE/B.Tech/MCA/ME/MTech in Computer Science or a related field from a premier institute.
2. Experience & Technical Skills
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
- Expertise in C & C++ (modern C++ e.g., C++11, C++14 is a plus).
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design.
- Experience in building developer-focused products (SDKs, libraries, open-source software).
- Knowledge of graphic technologies such as image formats (raster & vector), color management, and compositing.
- Familiarity with font formats and print technologies (PostScript, PDF).
- Experience with GPU technologies like D2D and Metal.
- Knowledge of image processing algorithms.
- Passion for writing high-performance, efficient code for desktop applications (Mac and Windows).
- Exposure to TFS, MS Build, and open-source technologies.
3. Additional Skills
- Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or other SDLC methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities without impacting productivity.
