Embedded Systems Architect – Flexpay6

???? Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering Leadership
- Represent Flexpay6 design within the local development team.
- Embed Flexpay6 principles, frameworks, and best practices within the team.
- Contribute to system design for the Flexpay6 product stream.
- Ensure engineering trade-offs balance extensibility, flexibility, and maintainability.
- Collaborate on technical decisions, architectural discussions, and documentation.
- Work with security teams to maintain compliance with PCI and industry standards.
- Conduct peer reviews of software architecture and provide feedback.
- Mentor and educate teams on design specifications and architecture.
2. Payments Technology & Certification
- Develop expertise in payments technology and industry certifications (PCI, CC, EMV L1, L2, L3).
- Maintain security justifications and documentation for compliance.
- Stay updated on payment technology trends and certification requirements.
- Train and educate teams on certifications and security standards.
3. Technology & Industry Trends
- Monitor product and technology trends in embedded systems.
- Contribute to product and research roadmaps.
- Attend technology and payments trade shows and share insights with the team.
4. Flexpay6 Design & Development
- Lead the design and development of new functionalities.
- Establish Design FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) for system validation.
- Drive firmware design, ensuring compliance with industry certifications.
- Provide input on project estimates, architecture runway, and risk management.
- Develop design simulators and update product documentation.
5. Firmware Development & Continuous Improvement
- Follow Agile development methodologies with established architecture practices.
- Improve Invenco procedures for software development and testing.
- Identify and escalate issues proactively to mitigate risks.
- Continuously enhance firmware design practices.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Ensure smooth communication and coordination across teams.
- Resolve cross-functional challenges and promote teamwork.
7. Quality Assurance & Product Certification
- Lead quality assurance efforts within firmware and hardware design.
- Validate all designs and solutions before release.
- Support QA and certification processes efficiently.
8. Managing 3rd Party Contractors & Suppliers
- Collaborate with certification agencies and suppliers.
- Ensure product compliance and smooth integration of third-party components.
???? Required Qualifications & Skills
Essential Skills & Experience
✅ 15+ years in hardware and embedded development, with 10+ years in an embedded tech leadership role.
✅ Expertise in C/C++, Linux, BIOS, EMV kernel, and certificates.
✅ Experience with payment industry certification requirements (PCI, EMV L1, L2, L3).
✅ Strong firmware design and system architecture skills.
✅ Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
✅ Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
