Position Overview

The Turbine Mechanical Lead Engineer will execute the mechanical scope on nuclear steam turbine projects, leading activities within the design office for projects of increasing complexity. This position involves working with world-class nuclear steam turbines, focusing on mechanical design, thermodynamics, and mechanical calculations. The role will be central to mechanical engineering performance and will provide opportunities to grow in both technical and project management aspects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Documentation:

    • Issue and review technical reports, calculation notes, and drawings for the mechanical discipline.
    • Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of design documentation.
    • Prepare and lead engineering design reviews for the mechanical discipline.
  • Coordination and Communication:

    • Coordinate design engineers and technicians within the mechanical discipline.
    • Manage technical interfaces with other engineering disciplines and project teams.
    • Interface with clients to address comments and participate in project meetings.
    • Interface with factories and external suppliers for component manufacturing, ensuring quality and addressing deviations, non-conformances, and clarifications.
    • Coordinate with site teams handling the erection of turbine components, ensuring smooth execution and addressing site-related issues.
  • Technical and Project Oversight:

    • Provide feedback from experience to the group, including feedback meetings with suppliers and internal teams.
    • Ensure nuclear safety items and activities are properly identified and monitored throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Secure ITNS Gate Reviews and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and safety standards.
    • Follow EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) rules to ensure compliance during the project.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of engineering experience in a design office, ideally within energy, oil & gas, aerospace, or special machinery sectors.
  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong mechanical design fundamentals and understanding of manufacturing processes and non-destructive testing.
    • Rigorous, process-oriented approach to engineering tasks.
    • Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills, with the ability to work autonomously and make decisions in complex environments.
  • Language Skills:

    • Fluent in English (speaking, listening comprehension, reading, and writing).
