Job Summary:
Amazon is seeking a dedicated and experienced Forklift Driver to join our Warehouse Operations team in Chennai. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a forklift to transport materials within the warehouse, ensuring that goods are stored and retrieved according to operational requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a forklift to move, load, and unload materials within the warehouse.
- Transport products to designated areas and ensure correct storage, organization, and inventory control.
- Conduct routine inspections and perform minor maintenance tasks on the forklift.
- Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy by checking product quantities and locations.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and warehouse regulations at all times.
- Support the packing and preparation of goods for shipment.
- Collaborate with the warehouse team to optimize workflows and improve operational efficiency.
- Report any damage or discrepancies in inventory and assist with resolving issues promptly.
- Perform other warehouse-related duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in forklift operation (Forklift Operator Certification).
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and warehouse safety procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy items and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or industrial setting.
- Experience in inventory management, loading/unloading, and product handling is preferred.
- Prior exposure to safety practices and warehouse protocols is a plus.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position.
- Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
- Overtime may be required during peak periods or to meet operational demands.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth understanding of forklift operation, warehouse logistics, and safety protocols.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong physical ability to handle lifting, bending, and other physical tasks as required in a warehouse environment.
- Adaptability to work in varying conditions, including fast-paced and high-demand periods.
- Knowledge of basic warehouse management systems and inventory software is a plus.
