Role Overview

The Manager - AML Data Governance will be a key player in the Risk Data team within Risk Products & Data Strategy. This team develops and maintains the risk data required for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) strategies and ensures strong data governance and quality. The Manager will lead a team of 3-4 data analysts and collaborate across multiple business units, product/platform teams, and enterprise technology teams to develop, govern, and manage AML data, ensuring it meets the needs of production use cases and analytical needs while maintaining high data quality standards.


Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End AML Data Ownership:
    Manage the end-to-end ownership of AML data across various platforms and processes.

  • Subject Matter Expertise:
    Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for the workstream, with in-depth knowledge of risk systems and processes.

  • Strategic Leadership:
    Lead the development of strategy and roadmap for AML data governance initiatives and risk data management.

  • Data Engineering Principles:
    Ensure data engineering principles are applied to all data requirements, including data governance and data quality.

  • Risk Data Ownership:
    Own the risk data for production use cases and analytics, collaborating with internal teams to ensure data meets the necessary standards.

  • Data Quality Controls:
    Define and implement data quality controls (e.g., detective, preventive, B&Cs) for both batch and real-time data, working with technical teams to ensure proper implementation.

  • Transformation of Data Processes:
    Lead the transformation of critical risk data processes, migrating from legacy platforms to POD platforms and integrating with Cornerstone risk systems.

  • Operational Risk Reduction:
    Develop capabilities to reduce manual operations and prevent operational risk, optimizing workflows and enhancing data management processes.

  • Collaboration:
    Partner with stakeholders, including Data Architects, Business Architects, and tech teams, to design and implement the right data models and designs.

  • Data Education & Governance:
    Educate the stakeholder community on the usage of risk data and maintain accurate metadata and lineage standards as per Enterprise Data Governance requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • 3-4 years of hands-on experience working on large-scale capability or analytical projects in data management or risk data governance.

    • Credit/Fraud Risk Management experience and understanding of the credit lifecycle is preferred.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong understanding of data management and data governance concepts (e.g., metadata, lineage, data quality).

    • Proficiency with tools like Python, Hive, SQL, and Hadoop is preferred.

  • Education:

    • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

    • Strong strategic thinking, solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to drive projects with clear goals and objectives.

    • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate in a cross-functional environment.

  • Communication & Analytical Skills:

    • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to convey complex information to diverse stakeholders.

    • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.

  • Track Record of Driving Results:

    • A proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with a need to make decisions with limited information.
