The Role: Infrastructure Specialist (Storage Systems Engineer)
Infrastructure Specialists at Kyndryl are project-based subject matter experts in IT infrastructure. They analyze problems, provide solutions, document work, and ensure smooth IT operations. This role requires both technical expertise and strategic planning, with exposure to various IT platforms.
???? Key Responsibilities:
✔ Daily Administration: Perform routine administrative tasks to ensure smooth operation of storage systems. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
✔ Project Activities: Execute firmware and hardware upgrades, manage data migrations, and minimize disruptions.
✔ Replication & Copy Services: Implement and manage Flash Copy, Metro Mirror, Global Mirror, and policy-based replication.
✔ SAN Switch Management: Configure and manage Cisco & Brocade SAN switches for optimal performance and security.
✔ Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Continuously monitor system performance and promptly resolve issues in SAN switches & storage arrays.
✔ Automation & Deployment: Engineer automation tools to enhance efficiency in storage system management.
✔ Infrastructure Architecture: Maintain enterprise storage infrastructure architecture and execute storage security hardening per global policies.
✔ Project Ownership: Take full ownership of infrastructure projects, collaborating with teams for successful execution.
✔ On-Call Duty: Participate in rotating on-call shifts for 24/7 operational support.
✔ Problem-Solving: Convert complex issues into actionable solutions and provide long-term strategies for IT improvements.
✔ Communication: Coordinate with Server Administrators & Management for planned outages via the Change Management System.
Qualifications & Experience
???? Required Technical & Professional Experience:
✔ 8+ years of experience with IBM V7000, IBM Flash Storage, IBM V5030, IBM Flash System 5000.
✔ Proficiency in managing Cisco & Brocade SAN switches.
✔ Strong troubleshooting skills for SAN switches and storage arrays.
✔ Experience in engineering automation & deployment tools.
✔ Expertise in enterprise storage infrastructure & security hardening.
✔ Familiarity with backup & recovery software.
✔ Ability to support 24/7 operations and work extended shifts, including after-hours/weekend maintenance.
???? Preferred Technical & Professional Experience:
✔ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop effective solutions.
✔ Excellent team collaboration & communication skills.
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
✔ At least 6 months of experience providing IT services.
