We are seeking a dedicated L1 Kafka Administrator to join our 24×7 Managed Services Team. You will monitor and manage large-scale Kafka clusters, respond to incidents, and assist in routine operations while escalating issues to L2 as needed. This is a great opportunity for professionals passionate about Kafka and open-source technologies to gain hands-on experience in enterprise environments.
Monitor Kafka clusters for performance, availability, and security
Conduct routine checks on brokers, topics, and partitions
Respond to alerts and troubleshoot issues, escalating to L2 support when necessary
Assist with deployment and configuration of Kafka components
Maintain operational documentation and incident logs
Collaborate with L2 teams to understand issues and solutions
Ensure SLA compliance and smooth shift transitions
Provide first-level triage for Kafka-related issues
Participate in 24×7 rotational shifts
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
2–3 years of relevant experience
4–5 years of total industry experience preferred
Basic knowledge of Confluent Kafka architecture
Familiarity with Linux/Unix and basic system administration
Experience with monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana
Understanding of messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ)
Basic scripting skills in Bash or Python
Good understanding of networking protocols
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24×7 support model
Prior experience in a managed services environment
Passion for open-source technologies
Strong team collaboration and willingness to learn
